Harrison Smith will remain the Vikings’ top defender

Unless he sustains an injury at some point, Smith will continue to reign supreme atop Minnesota’s defensive mountain of talent in 2018.

Barr, Joseph, and Rhodes probably have the best chance other than Smith to be the Vikings’ top defender next season. All of the choices mentioned above have the talent to be Minnesota’s best defensive player in 2018, but Smith’s abilities and lack of inconsistencies put him on a totally different level when compared to his teammates.

If anyone is looking for a dark horse candidate, Hunter is the guy to keep an eye on. His potential is off the charts and he could easily be a pass-rushing machine for Minnesota next season.

Even if Hunter does go off in 2018 with a big year, Smith will likely make sure it is known that he is still the clear leader and the best player on the Vikings’ top-ranked defense next season.
