Majority of 2017 starters returning for 2018:

For most of Zimmer’s time in Minnesota, the team has built its success around a handful of talented players. Everson Griffen, Harrison Smith, Xavier Rhodes, Adam Thielen, Kyle Rudolph, Anthony Barr, Linval Joseph, Andrew Sendejo, Brian Robison and Marcus Sherels have all been with the Vikings since the team hired Zimmer in 2014.

Having this group of players return year after year has definitely played a part (especially on defense) in Minnesota’s success under the head coach.

Last season was the Vikings’ most impressive season under Zimmer. Unfortunately they weren’t able to end it with a championship, but the majority of Minnesota’s starters from last year are expected to be back for the 2018 season.

19 of the Vikings 22 projected starters for 2018 were a part of the team’s starting lineup a year ago. Of the three different starters in 2018, two of these spots will be filled by Kirk Cousins and Sheldon Richardson.

Continuity has been a key to Minnesota’s recent success and it looks likely to be the case once again for next season.
