Terence Newman is an ironman for the Minnesota Vikings in the NFL, but the defensive back is also being recognized for his accomplishments at Kansas State.
During the 2018 NFL season, Minnesota Vikings cornerback Terence Newman will turn 40 years old and enter his 16th season as a professional football player. However, there was a time when the defensive back was a youngster proving himself at the college level.
From 1999 through 2002, Newman showed off his skills at Kansas State University. Playing in 48 games for the Wildcats where he recorded 10 interceptions and had 4 special teams return touchdowns.
The K-State website recently announced that Terence Newman would be among nine individuals who will be inducted in their Athletics Hall of Fame, a massive honor for a player 16 years after his exit from the school.
Joining Newman with the honors are golfer Christine Boucher, track and field athlete Rita Graves, basketball player David Hall, multi-sport athlete Ed Klimek, Olympian Margaret Thompson, basketball player F.I. Reynolds, football player Mark Simoneau, and athletic director Max Urick.

Senior Associate Athletics Director for Communications and K-State Athletics Hall of Fame Chairperson Kenny Lannou spoke about the amazing athletes who will be honored.
"We are excited to announce this year’s diverse group of nine individuals and welcome them into the K-State Athletics Hall of Fame. Each of these inductees has made a lasting impact on K-State Athletics and Kansas State University, and we look forward to welcoming them back to Manhattan this fall for a special induction weekend,” Lannou said."
It shouldn’t be a surprise that Newman is entering the Kansas State University Athletics Hall of Fame. In 2002, he was the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, Consensus All-America, and won the Jim Thorpe award.
The induction ceremony will be held on Friday, September 28, 2018 and the new Hall of Fame members will be honored during halftime of the Kansas State University football game against the Texas Longhorns the next day.
