All-time Greatest Minnesota Vikings: No. 21 – Steve Jordan
Steve Jordan is another player who took full advantage of the Vikings giving him a chance to be a starter after spending the early part of his career as a reserve. In his 13 seasons with the team, he set the bar for future Minnesota tight ends.
In the Vikings’ record book, Jordan holds the mark for the most career receptions (498) and receiving yards (6,307) by a tight end. He also has the second-most career touchdown catches (28) of any tight to play for Minnesota.
Jordan’s 179 receiving yards in a 1986 matchup against the Washington Redskins are also the most ever in a single game by a Vikings tight end.
He was an important part of Minnesota’s offense in the late 1980s and his performances were rewarded with six-straight invites to the Pro Bowl from 1986 to 1991. No other Vikings tight end has ever been voted to more than two Pro Bowls.
