All-time Greatest Minnesota Vikings: No. 19 – Gary Zimmerman
After spending two years with the Los Angeles Express of the now-extinct United States Football League, Gary Zimmerman joined the Vikings in 1986. From that time until 1992, he evolved into one of the best left tackles to ever play for Minnesota.
During his career with the Vikings, Zimmerman never missed a game. His impressive play on the field resulted in him getting voted to four Pro Bowls and earning two First-Team All-Pro selections.
With Zimmerman’s help, Minnesota was able to finish the 1991 NFL season with the NFC’s top rushing offense. The Vikings actually had one of the league’s top 15 rushing attacks in five of Zimmerman’s seven years with the team.
He eventually retired after winning a Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos in the 1997 season. In 2008, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
