When people think of the Minnesota Vikings, names like Bob Hagan, Jeff Anderson, Tom West, Jon Ekstrom, and Sam Newton, plus interns Carly Bonk, Danielle Burns and Walt Scher go under the radar. However, these public relations representatives are important to the franchise as a brand.

For all they do behind the scenes for the organization, the PR department of the Vikings were awarded the 2018 Pete Rozelle Award from the Pro Football Writers of America according to an article on the Star Tribune website.

Anyone who follows Vikings PR on Twitter or reads pieces from the individuals listed above knows how far they have gone to keep reporters and fans in the loop.

Longtime fans of the NFL will remember that Pete Rozelle was the NFL commissioner from 1960-89 who promoted healthy relationships between the franchise and the media after being a PR director for the Rams from 1952-55.

This is the first time that Minnesota has won the award since its inception in 1990 and considering everything that went into the move to U.S. Bank Stadium and the new facility in Eagan, Minnesota, the PR department of the team had to be on top of everything!

Also, if you follow Vikings PR on Twitter, they will update key stats during the game that fans may find interesting and add a bit more depth to games for fans who enjoy taking a dive into the team and the players.
