Could this finally be the season in which the Minnesota Vikings wide receiver finishes with 1,000 receiving yards or more?

Stefon Diggs has been one of the most electrifying wide receivers for the Minnesota Vikings ever since he first stepped on the field for them in 2015.

In just three seasons, Diggs has caught a total of 200 passes for 2,472 yards and 15 touchdowns. He’s quickly established himself as one of the most important parts of the Vikings’ offense.

Despite his success, there seems to still be one hump that Diggs cannot get over. Since he entered the NFL in 2015, the Minnesota receiver has never finished a single season with 1,000 or more receiving yards.

But with the Vikings having a new starting quarterback and a new offensive coordinator, could this finally be the year in which Diggs crosses the 1,000-yard mark?

His chances in 2018 are really as good as they ever have been.

New Minnesota quarterback Kirk Cousins has shown in the past that he likes to spread the ball around to all of his receivers. Last season, some could argue that Case Keenum’s favorite target on the Vikings’ roster was Adam Thielen and not Diggs.

Cousins’ knack for utilizing all of his offense’s pass-catchers could also translate to less targets for Diggs in 2018. But the receiver should still expect to see a good amount of passes being thrown his way.

Over the last two years, Diggs has averaged 74 catches per season. This seems like an achievable amount for the Minnesota receiver in 2018 and in order for him to finish with 1,000 yards or more, he would have to also average around 14 yards per reception.

Diggs has never averaged more than 13.8 yards per catch in a single season so far in his NFL career, yet a higher average seems attainable with Cousins as his quarterback.
