Soon, fans of the Minnesota Vikings will have a chance to check out many pieces from the team’s history at the new museum in Eagan, Minnesota.

The Minnesota Vikings have a rich history. Playing their first season in 1961, many great players and amazing moments have happened involving the purple and gold that have created lifelong memories.

Some of the historical memorabilia and commemorative displays will be showcased when the Vikings Museum opens in Eagan Minnesota right between the Twin Cities Orthopedics building and The Training Haus.

A recent post on the website of the Star Tribune showed off some of the amazing items fans will see at the museum. Here are some of the pieces they showed on their slideshow:

  • Helmet, newspapers, and program from the Vikings inaugural season
  • Goalpost crossbar and photos from the 1976 NFC Championship
  • Bud Grant’s official gear worn on the sideline
  • Scott’s Potato Chips illustrated trading card
  • The Triumphs Wall with footballs from historic team games
  • Super Bowl XXVI hat, pin, and promotional material
  • Seats and goalpost pad from The Met
  • Autographed Fran Tarkenton jersey and cleats
  • and much more!

The Star Tribune also says the museum is on schedule to open in time for the team’s training camp, meaning the crowds coming to Eagan to watch the team during their activities at the Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center will be able to watch the current team prepare for the regular season but also dip into the franchise’s past to get a taste of how the Vikings got to this point.

At this time, it’s unknown which eras of the Vikings will be represented in the team’s museum. The items showcased so far are from the days of the Purple People Eaters, but hopefully, there will be some more modern items from players like Randy Moss and Adrian Peterson included to draw in a newer generation of fans.
