Tight Ends (4)

Instead of bringing six wide receivers to the Vikings roster this year, Minnesota could decide to mix it up and bring four tight ends instead. Fans have seen how John DeFilippo enjoys using tight ends in his offense and the role each would play on the team thanks to their skills.

Kyle Rudolph will be the team’s featured tight end. He will be on the field, particularly on early downs, to be a top pass-catching option for Kirk Cousins. And Cousins has always seemed to enjoy throwing to players at that position, making Rudolph’s massive target area very appealing.

More of a blocking specialist, David Morgan will be part of multiple tight end sets disguised to run the football. Plus, he can be a sneaky option to catch the ball out of the backfield thanks to his soft hands and good route running.

In addition, the Minnesota Vikings used a draft pick on Tyler Conklin to bring in another big threat in the passing game. Expect to see him be used like a receiver in situations to create mismatches with opposing defenses.

The real question is whether or not Blake Bell will be able to crack the roster. However, his excellent play on special teams and solid tight end work make him a valuable asset that the team won’t want to put on the chopping block this season.
