The secondary is Mike Zimmer’s favorite part of the Minnesota Vikings defense. How will the unit stack up in 2018?

Stop me if you’ve heard this before, but Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer is a defensive backs guy.

As the coach that helped refine Deion Sanders and the guy who helped turn Harrison Smith and Xavier Rhodes from youngsters with upside to NFL superstars, when Mike Zimmer gets his hands on a defensive back, good things will happen.

Because of this passion, the secondary in Minnesota might be the most loaded position group on the 2018 roster. This isn’t just by the numbers as it features an All-Pro, a safety that could have been an All-Pro, and other solid pieces around them to make it another feared level on the defense.

Coming into the 2018 season, the secondary has a couple of new faces and the possibility to become even better. Although turnover could be on the horizon, the Vikings have waves of talent in the secondary that should continue to shine through.
