Minnesota Vikings Training Camp 2018: Day 4 recap
By Adam Patrick
Offense on Day 4:
Coley still out, Elflein too
Hoping to get a spot on the team’s final roster this year, Vikings wide receiver Stacy Coley missed his third-straight day of camp on Sunday with a groin injury. It’s possible that Minnesota could keep Coley out for a few more days in order to avoid further injury before the preseason.
Vikings center Pat Elflein remained on the sidelines as well on Sunday. Elflein is still on Minnesota’s PUP list as he recovers from offseason shoulder and ankle surgery.
Hill returns, leaves, returns, then leaves again
After he was seen throwing up on Saturday, Vikings tackle Rashod Hill tried to give it a go on Sunday. It looked like Hill was going to be fine, but midway through Minnesota’s practice, he had to exit to the sideline.
The Vikings’ tackle attempted to return to the field later in the day, but his second stint didn’t last very long. Following Sunday’’s practice, Minnesota head coach Mike Zimmer revealed that Hill has been dealing with an upset stomach for the last two sessions.
Isidora getting a chance
After playing Tom Compton with the first-team offensive line on Saturday to make up for Elflein’s absence, the Vikings gave second-year guard Danny Isidora an opportunity to work with the first-teamers on Sunday.
Expect Minnesota to continue alternating Compton and Isidora at left guard in camp until Elflein is able to return to the starting lineup.
Diggs proving his worth
Currently in the final year of his contract and potentially moments away from a lucrative extension, Vikings wide receiver Stefon Diggs has been giving fans plenty to cheer about at training camp so far.
On Sunday, Diggs was able to haul in a number of passes from new Minnesota quarterback Kirk Cousins including an impressive deep ball down the sideline and a touchdown over the middle on a goal line drill. Would it really hurt the Vikings to just hand the receiver a briefcase full of cash on Monday?
Murray excited to work more with Cook
Minnesota running backs Latavius Murray and Dalvin Cook did not get a ton of time to work together last season, as Cook tore his ACL just four games into the year. But for 2018, Murray is looking forward to teaming up with Cook and making the Vikings’ rushing attack one of the best in the NFL.
Speaking with the local media on Sunday, Murray was the latest to rave about his teammate’s performance at camp so far this year saying Cook, “looks really good.”
