It’s always nice to see a familiar face return to the Minnesota Vikings and this time it’s a former player joining the scouting team of the franchise.

The Minnesota Vikings found a lot of success running the ball during the peak years of Adrian Peterson. Combining the shifty running back’s elusiveness and speed with some excellent blocking from the offensive linemen, tight ends, and fullback created some excellent gains during that time.

One of the men paving the way for Adrian Peterson and others while protecting the quarterback was Jerome Felton, a fullback who spent three seasons with the Vikings and earned his first Pro Bowl and All-Pro nod during that time.

In addition, Felton was the lead blocker for Peterson during the season where the NFL’s single-season rushing record was nearly broken, with Minnesota’s running back falling 8 yards short of the accomplishment while running the ball 31 fewer times than Eric Dickerson, stalling at 2097 yards.

Jerome Felton spent 9 seasons in the NFL where he accumulated a total of 178 yards on 55 carries and 50 catches for 421 yards. But now he’s bringing his talents to the Vikings staff instead of their offensive backfield.

Andrew Krammer of the Star Tribune recently announced on Twitter that Felton is returning to the organization to take a role with the team where he will be working towards adding young talent to the team. Here is his tweet:

Minnesota has done a solid job with scouting in recent years. The team has hit on multiple mid to late round picks while strengthening their roster with undrafted free agents and other potential fits.

dark. Next. Way too early Vikings 2018 record prediction

While Jerome Felton is getting his start as an intern for the team, it’s awesome to have a former member of the franchise on the staff looking for some of the next great Minnesota Vikings players to add to the roster.
