Along with a ton of people in new positions for the Minnesota Vikings, the team has promoted five individuals from staff members to team executives.

If there is one thing the Minnesota Vikings has proven over the last few seasons, it is that they want to take care of their own people. The team has handed out multiple major extensions to key players and shored up the coaching staff to ensure success.

However, the franchise takes that approach to their front office as well. Minnesota has been able to retain several important members of their staff over the years and the team made five moves to show how much they mean business.

Announced on the official website of the Vikings, five important members of the team received a significant title promotion, making them executives.

Perhaps the most important of the promotions involves assistant General Manager George Paton, who has been a popular candidate to take over as general manager of another franchise in the future. He becomes the Vikings Vice President of Player Personnel/Assistant General Manager.

The next most newsworthy is trainer Director of Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer Eric Sugarman, who gained a promotion from director to vice president. Part of the NFL for 22 years and the Vikings for 13, he has become a staple of the franchise.

Other promotions include Don Becker becoming the team’s Executive Vice President of Real Estate Development and Strategic Projects, Bob Hagan earning the title of Vice President of Football and Media Communications, and Jeff Anderson becoming Vice President of Strategic and Corporate Communications.

It’s great to see Minnesota taking the initiative to do everything they can do in their power to retain important parts of the team’s staff. These five new executives should ensure the team continues to stay on the same page and move in a uniform direction.

On the website, the Minnesota Vikings also announced numerous other promotions happening inside the organization, including:

  • MVC Coach and Manager – Theresa Baugus
  • Manager of Football Information Systems – Luke Burson
  • Senior Account Executive – John Dvorak
  • Senior Producer, Live Programming – Michael Huiras
