Offense on Day 8:

King and Beebe sit out

A day after Tavarres King and Chad Beebe exited practice early, the two Vikings receivers remained on the sidelines during Friday’s session.

King reportedly suffered an injury to his hamstring on Thursday while no details about Beebe’s injury have been revealed. Both players are fighting for a spot on the Minnesota’s final 2018 roster and neither of them can really afford to miss too much practice time.

O’Neill getting a legit shot

After he was drafted by the Vikings last April, many regarded offensive tackle Brian O’Neill as a raw player who didn’t seem quite ready to be an immediate starter in the NFL.

But from what has been going on during Minnesota’s training camp this year, O’Neill is at least being given a chance to prove his doubters wrong.

The rookie worked with the first team offensive line earlier in the week as Rashod Hill dealt with a stomach illness and he has continued to work with the top unit on Friday.

The possibility of O’Neill opening up the regular season as the Vikings’ starting right tackle is beginning to become more real.

Cousins works on his deep ball

Based on the fact that he has finished with at least 4,000 passing yards in each of the last three seasons, Minnesota quarterback Kirk Cousins has never been someone who is afraid to throw the ball downfield.

On Friday, he tested his deep ball his new Vikings teammates. The throws were reportedly on target, but multiple Minnesota receivers apparently ended up dropping a few routine catches.

After their less than spectacular performance on Friday, the Vikings receivers were seen doing push-ups at the end of practice.
