6 pleasant surprises at Vikings training camp this year
By Adam Patrick
Holton Hill – CB
Heading into this year’s Vikings training camp, there was a bit of buzz surrounding Hill. Despite being an undrafted rookie, the young cornerback has already been impressing his Minnesota teammates and coaches with his performance on the practice field.
Hill had the talent to be drafted this year, but some off-the-field concerns caused every NFL team to pass on him and take the corner off their draft boards. After the draft, the Vikings were able to convince Hill to sign with them and it looks like he made a good decision so far.
For a young corner, there may be no better team to land with in the league than Minnesota. Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer has an impressive track record of developing young defensive backs and the roster features some of the best corners to learn from in Xavier Rhodes and Terence Newman.
Hill still has a bunch of work to do before he is deemed worthy of a spot of Minnesota’s 2018 roster. But the young corner is certainly putting the pressure on the Vikings decision makers when it comes time to name the team’s final 53 this year.
