Former Minnesota Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway knows defense and helping others but now he’s entering the adult beverage market with Gray Duck Vodka.
Chad Greenway was the heart and soul of the Minnesota Vikings linebacker grouping for a decade after joining the team as a first-round pick out of the University of Iowa when the franchise used the 17th overall selection in the 2006 NFL Draft on him.
On the field, Greenway was known for his hard-nosed style of defense and surefire tackling technique, leading the franchise in tackles for multiple seasons as well as the NFL during the 2010 NFL season.
Making the decision to retire following the 2016 NFL season, Greenway continued to focus on his charitable efforts with the Lead The Way Foundation, which included Chad’s Locker, TendHER Heart Luncheon, Field of Dreams, playground builds, and much more.
However, Greenway is now entering the adult beverage market with Gray Duck Vodka.
Announced on the YouTube channel of Gray Duck Spirits, the 80 proof alcohol is a handcrafted vodka made in Minnesota and named after one of the most popular touchdown celebrations in Minnesota Vikings history.
While much of the world know the children’s game Duck, Duck, Goose, those in Minnesota likely know it better as Duck, Duck, Gray Duck. That said, the fun name adds some football familiarity and a Land of 10,000 Lakes twist to an exciting new beverage.
The debut of the beverage happened at the Total Wine and More locations around Minnesota, with Greenway himself appearing at the Minnetonka location to meet fans, sign autographs, and provide samples while selling the affordably priced vodka, which is corn-based, organic, and gluten-free.
Chad Greenway has a message for Vikings fans when they want to enjoy a drink:
"“When you want to have a good time, get the duck out!”"
At this time, it is unknown as to where Gray Duck Vodka will be sold, but Minnesota Vikings fans will have the best chance to score a bottle at their local Total Wines and More locations in the Land of 10,000 Lakes.
