The interesting stuff vs Denver

  1. Local viewing. I know this is not something everyone experienced, but it’s so nice to live in the local market where the Vikings announcers are handling the game. Normally, NFL Network and other channels will just use the home team’s staff, but it’s great to hear the knowledge and hometown observations.
  2. Forbath on kickoffs, Carlson on field goals/extra points. That’s a unique way of dividing duties. Alternating games would have been likely done in the past, but this is a way to get both players suited up. Odds are those jobs will flip places for next week’s game.
  3. It’s preseason for the refs too! Screwing up jersey numbers is one thing, but messing up offense and defense is another. And that ‘review’ on a catch in the end zone? Ridiculous! Take a moment, make sure you’re announcing the right thing, and then hit that mic button!  It’s better than looking silly, Pete Morelli.
  4. Xavier Rhodes is a cheerleader for the Minnesota Vikings. Watching how excited he was to see Kyle Sloter run in a touchdown to give the team a two-score lead was a ton of fun. It’s always nice to see fun reactions like that on the sideline.
  5. 406 yards of offense and 42 points. That’s right, Minnesota put up a TON of points, with all of them coming off field goals, extra points, and touchdowns! With the first team offense and defense looking great too, it’s hard to complain about much of anything.
