One Vikings player makes PFF’s preseason Week 1 Team of the Week
By Adam Carlson
Several Minnesota Vikings players performed well against the Broncos in Week 1 of the preseason, but only one made the Pro Football Focus Team of the Week!
Fans of the Minnesota Vikings who watched the team take on the Denver Broncos during their first game of the preseason had to walk away quite impressed with their performance on August 11, 2018.
However, not everyone had amazing games and some put on better performances than others. Guys like Kirk Cousins, Stefon Diggs, Roc Thomas, and others shined during the game, but only one player from the team got a unique honor.
Each week, Pro Football Focus assembles the best players from the week to put together a roster of players to form a team of the best players of the week. For the first week of preseason, a lot of interesting names can make the team, and that’s exactly what happened.
On the Preseason Week 1 NFL Team of the Week from PFF, the only player to make the team was part of the Vikings secondary, but not one of the premier players fans have grown to expect greatness from.
Jack Tocho put together a solid performance despite making a few mistakes. On the stat sheet, it’s easy to see he had an interception and two other pass defenses, one of which tipped the ball to lead to an interception during his 56 snaps played. He earned an impressive grade of 90.6 on the night.
However, he was also part of the coverage team that allowed two completions for two touchdowns on 6 targets, including a miscommunication on a wide open Broncos receiver for an easy score.
It was a touch surprising not to see Roc Thomas, Kirk Cousins, or Stefon Diggs on the list. However, it is still great to see a member of the Vikings be represented on this list from Pro Football Focus.
Congratulations to Minnesota Vikings safety Jack Tocho on making the PFF Preseason Week 1 NFL Team of the Week and joining other individuals who had great performances during the week!
