Forever Purple: Former Vikings in action during Week 1 of the preseason
By Adam Patrick
Teddy Bridgewater – QB (New York Jets)
For the first time since the 2016 preseason with the Vikings, Bridgewater was on the field for a significant amount of time last Friday. The former Minnesota quarterback played in two series for the Jets during their preseason matchup against the Atlanta Falcons.
On two drives, Bridgewater led New York to 10 of the 17 points the team ended up finishing the game with. The former Vikings signal caller completed seven of his eight passes for 85 yards and one touchdown.
Bridgewater’s throws looked crisp and he didn’t show any signs of his surgically repaired knee affecting his play.
He is currently in a three-way quarterback competition with Josh McCown and rookie Sam Darnold. At this point, reports seem to indicate that the Jets would like to begin the 2018 season with Darnold as their starting signal caller.
But if Bridgewater continues to perform in the preseason like he did last week, another team could end up wanting to trade for him. Something New York says they’re willing to consider.
