The Vikings’ first-team offense will get more time on the field
Last week, all it took was one series from the Vikings’ first-team offense to know that the staff has seen enough. However, that won’t be happening against a stellar Jaguars defense.
Kirk Cousins will do an admirable job during the team’s first drive, but it will take three drives for Minnesota to secure their first score of the game and it will be a field goal at that.
However, don’t expect the new Vikings quarterback to sling the ball around during this game, as he will attempt fewer than 10 passes and complete over 70 percent of them.
Minnesota running back Dalvin Cook will sit out once again, leaving Latavius Murray to do the work on the ground. And Murray won’t find the kind of success he did against the Broncos, averaging fewer than four yards per carry. However, their production should be enough to be encouraging moving forward.
The best news of all is that Cousins will have an opportunity to show off his rapport with Adam Thielen on Saturday, something fans wanted to see last week, but ended up watching Stefon Diggs do his thing through the air instead.
