4 bold predictions for the Vikings preseason matchup vs. the Jaguars
By Adam Patrick
The Vikings will finish with more than 30 points again
Last week against the Broncos, Minnesota finished the matchup with a whopping 42 points. That point total is the most any Vikings team has finished with during the preseason since Mike Zimmer became the team’s head coach in 2014.
In fact, no Minnesota team has scored 42 points or more in a preseason game since 1998. Vikings fans know how potent the team’s offense was during that season. So could last week’s preseason win be sign of things to come for this year’s offense?
Not so fast, but Minnesota will still keep those thoughts in existence after Saturday’s game against the Jaguars when they score at least 30 points for the second-straight week.
This doesn’t have so much to do with the potential explosiveness of the Vikings’ first-team offense. But Minnesota’s reserve units on offense proved last week that they still have plenty of guys that can make plays like Roc Thomas and Kyle Sloter.
Will the Vikings finish with more than 40 points again on Saturday? Don’t bet on it, but each of Minnesota’s offensive groups should at least make their matchup against Jacksonville an exciting one to watch.
