REPORT: Vikings lose another player for the entire 2018 season
By Adam Patrick
Minnesota Vikings backup tight end Josiah Price will reportedly miss all of the 2018 season due to a knee injury he suffered in Wednesday’s practice.
Thankfully, injuries did not take a giant toll on the roster of the Minnesota Vikings during their 2018 training camp. Despite this, the Vikings are already expected to lose their second player for the entire upcoming regular season due to injury.
During Wednesday’s practice, Minnesota tight end Josiah Price went down with a knee injury and had to be carted off to the team’s locker room. According to ESPN’s Courtney Cronin on Thursday, Price’s knee injury is serious enough that it will prevent him from getting back onto the field in 2018.
The tight end signed with the Vikings last year as an undrafted free-agent out of Michigan State. However, Price did not end up making Minnesota’s final 2017 roster.
Since then, the Vikings re-signed the tight end in March, waived him in July, and then re-signed him four days later.
During Minnesota’s preseason win over the Denver Broncos last Saturday, Price was on the field for 17 plays and caught one pass for nine yards. His chances of making the Vikings’ final 2018 roster were already slim and this injury is not about to do him any favors.
If the report is indeed true, Price will join Minnesota offensive lineman Nick Easton on injured reserve. Easton was placed on IR on Monday after undergoing surgery to repair a herniated disc in his neck.
Losing the offensive lineman and Price for the entire 2018 season is unfortunate, but their absences should not have a tremendous impact on the Vikings’ performance this year.
Both players are set to become free-agents when the new league year begins in 2019.
