4 Vikings in danger of not making the regular season roster
By Adam Patrick
Stacy Coley – WR
In his second year with the Vikings, Coley was to believed by some to be in contention for the team’s third receiver spot before training camp began. But then Minnesota hit the field for camp at the TCO Performance Center and Coley lasted just one practice before he was sidelined with a groin injury.
His injury caused the receiver to miss five of the Vikings’ first six practices at this year’s training camp. When he actually was on the field, Coley has had a number of moments that featured him making some impressive catches.
He even played in Minnesota’s first preseason game of the year against the Denver Broncos and finished with two catches for 23 yards.
However, Coley suffered another injury in camp shortly after the Vikings’ preseason win over the Broncos and he has not practiced since. His absence has allowed other receivers like Chad Beebe, Kendall Wright, and Cayleb Jones to step up and make a good impression on Minnesota’s coaching staff this year.
Coley seems to be a player the Vikings are fond of. But if he can’t stay on the field, there’s no sense in keeping a 2018 roster spot for him.
