4 Vikings in danger of not making the regular season roster
By Adam Patrick
Mack Brown – RB
Heading into this year’s training camp, Brown appeared to be the favorite for the Vikings’ third running back job. However, the former Washington Redskins rusher has been out-performed by two rookies during the preseason.
Mike Boone and Roc Thomas have both played in each of Minnesota’s exhibition games this year and both have performed quite well. Thomas had a monster night during the Vikings’ preseason win over the Denver Broncos in Week 1 and Boone led Minnesota in rushing in their loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars last Saturday.
Brown has only appeared in one of the Vikings’ two preseason games this year and he has been dealing with an undisclosed injury that has kept him out of the team’s last few practices. During his lone preseason appearance for Minnesota, the running back gained 34 yards on 11 attempts against the Broncos.
If he is unable to play in the Vikings’ preseason matchup with the Seattle Seahawks on Friday and Boone and Thomas are, Brown’s chances at making Minnesota’s final 53 are likely out the window.
