The bad things vs Seattle

  1. Oh, boy. Yes, both missed kicks were from 42 yards out, but having Daniel Carlson miss his first and second field goal attempts after winning the Vikings kicking job is definitely the most Minnesota thing ever. Especially with them both going wide left. Plus, Sebastian Janikowski makes it all look WAY too easy.
  2. Didn’t see enough Cook. It’s great to want to get Dalvin Cook some action, but it would have been great to see him get a few more handoffs, possibly some cuts, as well as some acceleration. Still, can’t blame the team for playing on the side of caution and the running back will now likely sit until the season opener.
  3. Holes up the middle. The Vikings run defense didn’t look up to par during the game, even though they did a pretty solid job of keeping Seattle out of the end zone on the ground. Still, with the investments on the interior of the defensive line, it’s a surprise to see that happen.
  4. Backup quarterback situations. Trevor Siemian looked awful this game and has been less than impressive overall in his preseason action with Minnesota. It can definitely be argued that Kyle Sloter may have looked better than the former starter the Vikings traded for and could be considered for QB2 duties.
  5. Leaving because of injury. Mike Boone left the game hurt on a play that didn’t seem to have a lot of impact to it. Hopefully, everything comes back good on him because he would be a solid choice to be the team’s third running back on the 53-man roster this season, between him or Roc Thomas.
