Beebe, Boone, and Jones will all shine against the Titans

The battle for the third running back position has not been as easy as it might seem. In fact, after the Vikings’ first preseason game, it looked like it was Roc Thomas’ job to lose.

But fellow tailback Mike Boone took advantage of every chance he got in preseason game two, showing his power and quickness in rushing for 91 yards on 13 carries. Look for Boone to put this decision away with a solid night on the ground and in the flat as a check-down receiver.

Rookie wide receiver Chad Beebe knows the Titans game may be the most important game he has played to date in his football career. Minnesota head coach Mike Zimmer likes him so he will give the young receiver the chance to win a spot on this roster with his hard-nosed play on Thursday.

Beebe may not get balls from lackluster quarterback Trevor Siemian, but he will once his pal Kyle Sloter takes over under center. The Vikings rookie receiver will make a play or two that will have Minnesota fans talking and it will be enough for him to win a spot on the team’s regular season roster.

Lastly, new Vikings interior offensive lineman Brett Jones will step up to show he is a clear upgrade from fellow guard, and Kirk Cousins’ best buddy, Tom Compton.

The addition of Jones will allow Cousins a moment or two longer in the pocket before opposing defensive tackles hit him this season and it will give Compton the time to plan off-the-field events that he can share with Kirk while on the bench.
