The Minnesota Vikings are reported to be starting their cuts already, with news spreading about two wide receivers being among the first wave of releases.

The Minnesota Vikings will be making a lot of cuts soon as the team moves toward assembling their 53 man roster for the 2018 NFL season and it is being reported that some of those cuts are being decided.

With the roster needing to be trimmed by September 1, 2018, the releases should start coming rather quickly, but the team has reported already been making some of those decisions and two pass catchers are supposedly on the way out.

The first is wide receiver Korey Robertson, who signed with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent following the 2018 NFL Draft. KSTP’s Darren Wolfson reported the news on Twitter. The early release does give some hope he can catch on somewhere else

Robertson had an extremely impressive final season with Southern Mississippi where he caught 76 passes for 1,106 yards and 12 touchdowns, drawing the attention of the Vikings when he went undrafted. He will have more opportunities to impress NFL teams in the future based on his ability.

In addition, it appears as though another pass catcher will be released. This time, it is Tavarres King. The 6th year player brought a veteran presence to the competition in training camp and the preseason. However, KSTP’s Darren Wolfson is reporting on Twitter that he will be waived with an injury designation.

King caught one pass for 13 yards in the preseason for the Vikings.  His 2017 season with the New York Giants found him catching three touchdowns and 18 passes for 240 yards, showcasing why Minnesota brought him into the fray for the preseason.

We at The Viking Age would like to wish Korey Robertson and Tavarres King nothing but the best in their future endeavors and thank them for their time spent with the Minnesota Vikings during the preseason and training camp.
