The bad things vs Titans

  1. Not finishing drives. Yes, this isn’t the first team offense out there doing work. However, the team should still be able to get the ball moving on drives and be able to execute in the red zone. Instead, the team had to settle for field goals or even a turnover on downs. Not good in a game that is so much of a fight to score points.
  2. The first half offense in general. The offense struggled to get going with Trevor Siemian and the second-team offensive line on the field, but a low snap on third down really hurt the chances of conversion on the first drive and the next drive stalled early too, with others not looking much better. Is the play of Siemian something to be concerned about going forward?
  3. Not taking the touchback with nothing open. It’s hard to decide not to take the ball out of the end zone on a kickoff, but getting the ball at the 15-yard line instead of the 25 just doesn’t make sense when the blocking isn’t in place. Heck, getting past the 25 is rare these days. Just take the knee and the touchback for consistency, ball security, and better field position!
  4. An ankle injury. Roc Thomas was on the field holding his ankle in some pain and had to leave the game. Reports were that he is questionable to return to the game, but it stinks to see a player working so hard to win a roster spot get hurt in such a pivotal game in determining his future.
  5. Finally seeing the fourth quarterback. Peter Pujals didn’t make his preseason debut until the closing minutes of the final preseason game when it was pretty clear he won’t be part of the 53-man roster. However. even in that time he lost a fumble on a sack and didn’t do much to increase his stock.
