Overall impression vs Titans

The Minnesota Vikings were able to come away with a win in this game, but it featured plenty of positives and negatives that should leave fans excited about some of the backup and reserve players on the team’s roster.

Of course, the usual names shined. Mike Boone, Brandon Zylstra, Eric Wilson, Stephen Weatherly, and Kyle Sloter continued to have some of the most impressive play of the preseason for the team while the starters sat out to prepare for the regular season.

Daniel Carlson bounced back in the kicking game, which was something everyone should have wanted to see. In addition, the defense was consistently getting stops and keeping the Titans out of scoring position even in the garbage time of the game.

George Iloka continued to look like a man among boys in inferior competition. However, his time in the game should help to get him ready for the regular season.

It’s hard not to be disappointed with Trevor Siemian, who didn’t lead a touchdown drive in one full half of play and even struggled to move the chains on offense. He looked better than this during his time with the Broncos and hopefully, his struggles end when the preseason is over.

Plus, execution in the red zone was an issue. Finding a way to get the ball in the end zone, even when knocking on the goal line, couldn’t happen. The only touchdown was a 24-yard score from Sloter to Zylstra…from outside the red zone.

The best news of all is that exhibition football is over and the regular season is right around the corner. The next time the team is on the field, they will be taking on the 49ers in front of the crowd at U.S. Bank Stadium.
