Eric Wilson – LB

Undrafted out of Cincinnati last season, Wilson looked a lot more comfortable on the field this preseason than he did a year ago.

The linebacker appeared in all four of the Vikings’ 2018 exhibition games and his 12 total tackles were the second-most of any player on the roster. 10 of those tackles were also considered defensive stops according to Pro Football Focus, which led all Minnesota defenders this preseason.

In addition to his tackling, Wilson chipped in with three quarterback pressures (including one sack) and one forced fumble. The pressure he was able to generate is even more impressive considering that the linebacker was only used as a pass rusher for nine snaps this preseason.

Wilson was pretty decent in pass coverage as well during the Vikings’ four exhibition games this year. While he did allow a catch percentage of 83.3 (five catches on six targets), the linebacker only allowed his coverage to gain 6.2 yards per reception.

Based on his performance this preseason, Minnesota fans should not be too worried if Wilson has to fill in for one of the team’s starting linebackers at some point this year.
