Top 5 moments from the Vikings’ Week 1 win over the 49ers

3. Cousins first Vikings touchdown
It did not take very long for Minnesota fans to realize why their favorite team made the decision to spend more than $80 million to land Kirk Cousins this offseason.
Cousins and the Vikings didn’t score a touchdown until the team’s third offensive drive of the game on Sunday. But the wait was totally worth it.
With the ball in the second quarter, Minnesota was facing a 3rd and 3 from the 49ers’ 22-yard line. Cousins took the snap out of the shotgun, looked to his left, and fired a laser of a pass to Vikings receiver Stefon Diggs in the end zone.
That pass, which ended up being Cousins’ first touchdown toss in a Minnesota uniform, is exactly why the Vikings signed him this year. While Minnesota was lucky to get some impressive performances from Case Keenum last season, Cousins is one of the few quarterbacks in the NFL today that can make such a needle-threading throw like the one he had to Diggs on Sunday.
The Vikings’ new quarterback finished with 244 passing yards and two touchdowns against San Francisco this week. A type of performance from Cousins that Minnesota is hoping will continue throughout the entire 2018 season.
