Vikings now know more details about Aaron Rodgers’ injury

When the Minnesota Vikings travel to Green Bay on Sunday, they will be facing a Packers quarterback who is currently dealing with a knee injury.
Going up against Aaron Rodgers has never been easy for the Minnesota Vikings. In 20 career games against the Vikings (including the playoffs), the Green Bay Packers quarterback has thrown for 40 touchdowns and just six interceptions.
This Sunday, Minnesota will be going up against the Packers and Rodgers inside Lambeau Field. But this week’s matchup might be a little different than some from the recent past.
Aside from last season, all of the Vikings’ games against Green Bay with Mike Zimmer as their head coach have come with a healthy Rodgers being under center for the Packers for the majority of the matchup. That won’t be the case in Week 2.

Against the Chicago Bears last Sunday, the Packers’ All-Pro quarterback suffered a knee injury that required him to be carted off to the locker room and miss part of the game. Rodgers later came back and re-entered the matchup and eventually led Green Bay to a stunning comeback victory over the Bears.
Following the game against Chicago, not much was known about the severity of Rodgers’ knee injury or what it even was. On Wednesday, the quarterback revealed a more specific diagnosis.
According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, the Packers quarterback said that he is currently dealing with a sprained knee. Rodgers did not practice on Wednesday and he said that his knee has been, “pretty sore,” since last Sunday.
For a Minnesota defense that generated a ton of pressure on the quarterback in Week 1, they have to be excited about the Green Bay signal-caller losing some of his dangerous mobility for Sunday.
Of course the Vikings still have to worry about Rodgers firing lasers downfield and hurting them with his arm. But his injury is likely going to prevent him from scrambling all over the place and making Zimmer’s head spin with ridiculous throws.
Is it going to be an easy task for Minnesota to defeat the Packers on Sunday with Rodgers on the field? No, of course not.
But the quarterback’s knee injury certainly increases the chances of the Vikings going into Green Bay this week and coming out with a victory.
