A tie is not something the Minnesota Vikings had in mind going into their Week 2 showdown with the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. But a tie between the two teams is exactly what ended up happening.
Both the Vikings and Packers had opportunities to leave the field with a win this week. But after 60 minutes of regulation and 10 minutes of overtime, neither team ended up with more points than the other.
Sunday’s result was the 11th time in team history that Minnesota ended a game in a tie with their opponent. Coincidentally, the last matchup the Vikings had that resulted in a tie was on the road against Green Bay in 2013.
The final result of Sunday’s game against the Packers should feel a little bittersweet for Minnesota.
The Vikings should be happy to know that they are capable of making a comeback late in a game. But Minnesota has to be disappointed when all their hard work ends up down the drain because their kicker cannot do his job and make at least one of his three field goal attempts.
