Minnesota Vikings player rankings: Week 3 edition
By Adam Carlson
1. Harrison Smith (no change)
Another really good game from Harrison Smith leaves him atop of the player rankings for the week, as he was a key part of a Minnesota Vikings defense which only allowed the Packers one offensive touchdown in Week 2.
Smith tied with three other Vikings players for leading the team in tackles with eight, but it was his solid tackling, good coverage, and ability to cover so much of the field whether rushing the quarterback or staying with pass catchers.
For a moment, it looked as though Smith would have an interception to add to his stat line for this game, but it was called back for an offsides penalty which negated the play.
Still, there is no doubting that just having Smith on the field is a game-changing accomplishment that can alter the way even elite offenses like the Green Bay Packers go about their business, and that’s why he’s the best safety in the NFL.
Just outside the top 10
Next week, the Minnesota Vikings will host the Buffalo Bills, a team led by a rookie quarterback who have been struggling to find their identity and put together good games. The Player Rankings will be back next week to adjust the standing accordingly. See you then!
