Minnesota Vikings may be without Dalvin Cook in Week 3
By Adam Patrick
The Minnesota Vikings running back missed his second practice session on Thursday as he is currently dealing with a hamstring injury.
During last Sunday’s matchup against the Green Bay Packers that resulted in a tie, Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook suffered what appeared to be a mild hamstring injury.
After the game though, Cook was quick to let everyone know that his hamstring was fine and he was just dealing with some cramping due to the heat in Green Bay.
Well as of Thursday, it appears that the Vikings running back is dealing with more than just cramping. Cook has not participated in any of Minnesota’s practices this week and he is currently listed on the team’s injury report with a hamstring injury.

Due to the nature of the injury and how early into the season it is, the Vikings are likely just going to let Cook take as much time as he needs to heal up. But unless he practices on Friday, it appears as though the Vikings will be without their top running back on Sunday when they take on the Buffalo Bills.
Would Cook’s absence affect Minnesota’s chances to come out with a win against the Bills this week? Probably not, so it isn’t the worst thing in the world if he were to sit out Sunday’s matchup.
Obviously the Vikings would like to have Cook out on the field this week. But making sure he is able to play for the majority of 2018 seems more important at this point than risking further injury against a team like Buffalo.
If he does actually sit out on Sunday, then either Mike Boone or Roc Thomas will likely be making their regular season debut against the Bills. Between the two, Boone seems more likely to be part of the active roster this week, but it’s also possible that Minnesota could activate both running backs for Sunday.
With or without Cook though, the Vikings should still not be worried about getting a victory over Buffalo this week.
