Former Minnesota Vikings quarterbacks Case Keenum and Sam Bradford have been pretty underwhelming so far during the 2018 season.

Following the their team’s loss in the 2017 NFC Championship, some fans of the Minnesota Vikings felt that Case Keenum had earned the right to return to the Twin Cities in 2018 as the team’s starting quarterback.

Not thinking about Keenum’s lack of production before joining the Vikings last year or the fact that Minnesota would have a new offensive coordinator in 2018, some felt the quarterback could just go out and continue to be successful this season.

And if the Vikings were unable to re-sign Keenum, then some even felt that bringing back Sam Bradford in 2018 would be a satisfying consolation prize.

But instead of signing either of these two quarterbacks during the most recent offseason, Minnesota went out and gave $84 million to free-agent signal caller Kirk Cousins. Keenum ended up signing with the Denver Broncos and Bradford landed with the Arizona Cardinals.

Fast forward to now and the Vikings look pretty smart for choosing Cousins over the other two quarterbacks this season.

Through the first four weeks of the year with the Broncos, Keenum has completed just 61.7 percent of his passes (down from 67.6 percent in 2017) for 988 yards, three touchdowns, and six interceptions. Not exactly the type the performance Minnesota saw from him last season.

As for Bradford, well his play this year has earned him a spot on the Cardinals’ bench. After beginning the season as Arizona’s starter, the veteran quarterback was benched last week in favor of rookie Josh Rosen.

Bradford’s demotion probably had something to do with him throwing for just 400 yards, two touchdowns, and four interceptions during the Cardinals’ first three games of 2018.

Meanwhile in Minnesota, Cousins already has 1,387 passing yards, 10 touchdowns, and two interceptions this season. Yes, the Vikings’ have two losses this year. But Cousins has not been the reason why Minnesota is just 1-2-1 after four games this season.

The Vikings went out and signed Cousins during the offseason because they felt he was a better option than Keenum or Bradford. So far this year, it has been very obvious that Minnesota made the correct decision.
