Minnesota Vikings player rankings: Week 5 edition
By Adam Carlson
7. Danielle Hunter (No change)
Trying to take the place of a Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro defensive end is a huge challenge, but Danielle Hunter continues to prove that he’s exactly the player the Vikings thought he was when they locked down the freak of nature to a long-term deal.
The Rams have a stellar offensive line and a possible Hall of Fame left tackle in Andrew Whitworth. Despite that, Hunter registered the only sack of the day for Minnesota. He ended the day with six total tackles, three of them solo.
6. Kirk Cousins (Up 3 spots)
Cousins has been creeping his way up these player rankings ever since his debut in Week 2 and it looks as though his climb will be much quicker than previously thought since he is the biggest riser this week.
In trying to keep up with the Rams, Cousins threw the ball 50 times, completing 36 passes for 422 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. Hopefully, the Vikings can get more balance between run and pass in the future, but at least fans know when the team needs to rely on Cousins, they can!
5. Linval Joseph (no change)
Once again, Joseph did a solid job of sealing off the running routes coming his way, which is exceptionally impressive considering the strength of the Rams offensive line and the skills of running back Todd Gurley.
Joseph may not have registered a sack on the day, but he did notch three total tackles despite a majority of the Rams damage coming from the passing game or runs not directed at “The Big Goon”.
