Minnesota Vikings vs Eagles in Week 5: The Philly perspective
By Adam Carlson
1) Let’s be honest: There isn’t a lot of love between Eagles and Vikings fans on social media. What do you think is causing such a big divide among the two fan bases and is it too late to try to fix the damage?
In all honesty, the majority of the hatred from Eagles fans will always be directed towards the Cowboys, Giants, and Redskins, but come on. Vikings fans started that.
You can’t just pop up on the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and do that ‘Skol’ chant. Then, they stunk it up in the Championship Game and they couldn’t let it go. They started talking about bullying and how mean everyone was. Personally, I was like ‘let it go. take the ‘L’ and move on.
It’s still fixable though. It’s not the entire portion of either fan base.
It was a nice gesture when some of the stadium officials sent the confetti and field turf over to some of the fans as a nice gesture.
Stuff like that gives you hope, but don’t expect the healing process to take place before Sunday either.
2) Losing DeFilippo seemed to get to Eagles fans a bit. How is the Eagles offense without him and what kind of skills does he bring to the Minnesota Vikings?
I talked about that earlier this week. It’s still too early to tell what this Eagles offense is because we’ve never had the entire offense on the field at the same time in 2018.
Some limit DeFilippo’s contribution by making statements like ‘Doug calls the plays’, but that, alone, can’t be the entire formula we use to evaluate what he or Frank Reich did for Philly’s offense.
Look, Eagles CEO and chairman blocked him from talking to the Jets a season ago. No one wanted to see him go in the offseason, but we understand. He was given an opportunity to grow.
He’ll be missed around here and Minnesota’s lucky to have him. Expect that Vikings offense to become just as much of an asset as that defense has been
