Back during the 2013 season, the Minnesota Vikings put a ton of points up on the scoreboard on their way to an easy win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
We all saw what happened the last time the Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles met.
Currently, the Vikings are 1-2-1 and need a win this Sunday to avoid a three-game losing streak. The Eagles are 2-2 and are coming off an overtime loss last week to the Tennessee Titans.
Last season the Eagles beat the Vikings handily in the NFC Championship. Two years ago Minnesota started the season 5-0 and ended up losing their first game of the year to the Philadelphia.
The Vikings eventually finished the season with a disappointing 8-8 record.
Maybe this time things will be different. Maybe Minnesota will win this week and will start a nice turnaround. It should at least be a good game and could very well go either way.
If the Vikings do end up getting the win, it will be their first victory over Philadelphia since 2013.
That season, the Vikings got an easy 48-30 win over the Eagles in Week 15 and during that game, Minnesota quarterback Matt Cassel completed 26 of his 35 passes for 382 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Cassel also rushed for a touchdown.
Vikings running back Matt Asiata started in the place of Adrian Peterson for this matchup and ended up rushing for 51 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries. Minnesota wide receiver Greg Jennings had a big day with 11 catches for 163 yards and a touchdown.
On the defensive side of the ball, Vikings pass rushers Jared Allen and Brian Robison each finished with two sacks.
With their victory over the Eagles, Minnesota improved their record to 4-9-1 on the season. They went on to finish 2013 with a 5-10-1 in their final season at the Metrodome.
Thanks to their underwhelming year, head coach Leslie Frazier was fired by the Vikings at the end of the season. Minnesota eventually filled Frazier’s opening with some guy named Mike Zimmer.
On Sunday, the Vikings will look to end their losing streak against Philadelphia, who currently leads the all-time series between the two teams 14-13.
