Mike Remmers, guard

What exactly is going on with Mike Remmers? As one of the big free agent acquisitions before the 2017 NFL season in an effort to solidify the offensive line, Remmers was expected to be the team’s answer at right tackle.

Instead, Remmers has been moved inside to guard as the team searches for another answer at right tackle, earning his $4.6 million salary for a position that ended up being filled by swing tackle Rashod Hill with undersized backup rookie Brian O’Neill serving as the backup.

Even with moving to the interior of the line and not having to go up against some of the fastest and most dynamic pass rushers in the league, Remmers is registering the lowest PFF grade of his career at 54.9.

With the right tackle position still a problem and Remmers underperforming at guard, he needs to prove that he can contribute to an offensive line that is struggling to not only keep Kirk Cousins clean but create running lanes.
