Hello rushing touchdown, it’s been way too long

Through five games this season, Mike Hughes and Linval Joseph have more touchdowns than any of the running backs on the Vikings’ roster. Heading into Sunday’s matchup with the Cardinals, Minnesota is still looking for the first rushing score of the year.

At this point last season, the Vikings had already ran for a total of four touchdowns. Minnesota’s current five week draught is the longest amount of time the team has begun a year without scoring on a run play in the history of the franchise.

Against Arizona, however, this streak will finally be put to an end by the Vikings.

Aside from finally scoring a rushing touchdown, it should also be a big game for all of the Minnesota running backs this week versus the Cardinals. This season, Arizona is the second-worst team against the run in the NFL and they have allowed a league-leading eight rushing touchdowns.

If the Vikings were looking for a matchup to get their running game finally up and going, facing the Cardinals is a good way to do it.
