Jets run into a purple wall

An underrated aspect of the Vikings’ defense that vaulted them into elite status last season was the play of their rushing defense. Their impressive play against the run has continued into 2018.

Minnesota has yet to lose this year when holding their opponent to under 100 rushing yards, something they have done four times.

The Vikings’ defense also hasn’t allowed an opposing running back to gain over 100 yards on the ground yet in 2018. Minnesota has actually only allowed one opposing halfback (Jonathan Stewart) to finish with over 100 rushing yards in their last 23 regular season games.

This week, the Vikings’ defense will be going up a Jets rushing attack that ranks 10th in the NFL this year. However, New York could be without Isaiah Crowell on Sunday because of a foot injury and he has been their top running back this season.

But even if Crowell ends up playing, Minnesota should still not have much trouble shutting down the Jets’ run game this week. Expect the Vikings to increase their chance of winning on Sunday by holding New York to under 100 rushing yards.
