The Minnesota Vikings wide receiver continues to dominate, becoming the first player with seven straight 100-yard receiving games in the Super Bowl era.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably stumbled upon an article about the path that Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen took to the NFL.

While the $500 scholarship, practice squad apprenticeship, and the Christmas Eve explosion against Green Bay in 2016 are enough for its own Disney movie, there’s another storyline that is currently playing out.

Thielen is now one of the NFL’s best wide receivers.

The 28-year-old continued to write his movie script on Sunday afternoon against the New York Jets as he caught nine passes for 110 yards and a touchdown. The yardage total was the most significant aspect of his performance as he became the first player in the Super Bowl era to open a season with seven straight 100-yard games.

The mark also ties Charley Hennigan’s stretch in 1961, when he opened the year with seven straight 100-yard receiving games for the AFL’s Houston Oilers.

Thielen’s performance showed off his increasing arsenal of abilities as he was able to open the scoring for the Vikings on a 34-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter.

From there, he continued his role as Kirk Cousins’ most reliable target this season, finding ways to get open, and making plays for a passing offense that struggled at times against New York. He eventually broke the century mark on a 21-yard pass from Cousins midway through the fourth quarter.

Through seven games this season, Thielen is already putting up video game numbers with 67 receptions, 822 yards, and five touchdowns (tying a career-high).

As Minnesota’s offense continues to progress with Cousins and offensive coordinator John DiFilippo, it’s possible that Thielen could make his way toward several other NFL records by the end of the year.
