The interesting stuff from Week 7

  1. That wind! As was predicted in the How To Watch piece, the wind did have an impact on this game, particularly in the punting, field goal kicking, and placement of throws. For a team that usually plays in a dome, This was likely quite different for Minnesota.
  2. Bad announcing. Chris Spielman and Thom Brennaman may be good at times, but this is one of the worst showings they’ve ever had. Between calling players by the wrong names, not being able to say certain words, bad banter, and mispronouncing things it was a brutal effort. And we’ll get them again for Week 9! YAY?
  3. Thielen’s accomplishment. With today’s efforts, Adam Thielen moved past John Gilliam and Percy Harvin to move into 10th on the all-time receiving yards list for the Minnesota Vikings. The next player to overtake: tight end Kyle Rudolph!
  4. Getting those takeaways. The Vikings had three interceptions on rookie quarterback Sam Darnold, bringing them to 7 on the season in as many weeks. Any time Minnesota can get some takeaways, their chances of a win increase dramatically.
