Round 2: Terry Beckner Jr., defensive tackle – Missouri

With the Vikings salary cap getting sticky, it will be tough for the team to maintain all the talent they have on the roster. And with the solid performance of Sheldon Richardson, odds are he will attempt to cash in on a big payday after his one year deal in Minnesota is over.

Head coach Mike Zimmer will want a big body to fill in at that spot, and it should be a guy like Beckner. Standing 6-foot-4 and weight 290 pounds, he can be that disruptive force in the middle to cash in on the massive presence of Linval Joseph and defensive ends Danielle Hunter and Everson Griffen.

Beckner racked up 11 tackles for a loss during his 2017 campaign, seven of those being sacks on opposing quarterbacks. Factor in his 35 total tackles that year (20 of them solo) and 2 batted passes, and you have a player who could be a key part of the Vikings defense in the future.

Other options for second-round selections:

  • Kendall Joseph, OLB – Clemson
  • Iman Marshall, CB – USC
