No 300 Club for Mr. Stafford

Despite his team’s lack of success, Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford has been one of the most lethal passers in the NFL for the last few seasons. Since 2011, only Matt Ryan and Drew Brees have thrown for more yards than Stafford.

This year, the Detroit passer is certainly not off to his best start ever, but he is still putting up some pretty respectable numbers. Stafford has thrown multiple touchdowns in six of his seven starts this season and he has finished with at least 300 passing yards three times.

Despite the talent he has shown throughout his career, the Lions quarterback has never really put up staggering numbers against the Vikings since Mike Zimmer became the team’s head coach in 2014.

In his last four matchups against Minnesota, Stafford has completed just 59.8 percent of his passes and thrown for an average of 227.5 yards.

Based on these numbers and the fact that Detroit just traded away their leading receiver, don’t expect the Vikings’ pass defense to get torn apart by Stafford on Sunday. The Lions quarterback hasn’t thrown for 300 yards or more against Minnesota since 2013 and that streak is not about to come to an end this week.
