Minnesota Vikings to activate Chad Beebe from practice squad

The activation of the Minnesota Vikings preseason star could be a tip of the hand on Stefon Diggs’ status for Sunday’s game.
Every Saturday is a great time for fans to read the tea leaves on their favorite injured players in the NFL and with several starters on the mend, the Minnesota Vikings are no exception in advance of their Week 9 matchup with the Detroit Lions.
This week’s injury drama for the Vikings involved wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who suffered an injured rib against the New Orleans Saints last Sunday.
Diggs suffered the injury, “falling to the ground,” on a second quarter screen and although he told reporters earlier in the week that he expects to play on Sunday, he did not practice at all this week and was listed as questionable on the team’s final injury report.

Although no official designation has been made, it appears that Diggs’ chances of suiting up against the Lions are worse than he thought earlier in the week as Minnesota activated fellow wide receiver Chad Beebe from the practice squad on Saturday according to ESPN’s Courtney Cronin.
Beebe was one of the standouts for the Vikings during the preseason as he logged nine catches for 95 yards and two touchdowns. The rookie finished second on the team in receptions (behind Mike Boone, who had 10), second in receiving yards (behind Roc Thomas with 129), and tied for the lead (with Thomas) in touchdown catches.
After being initially cut by the team, Beebe made enough of an impression to land on the team’s practice squad this season. His activation could mean that Diggs is in jeopardy of missing Sunday’s game, but could also mean something else.
The Vikings’ receiving unit has been disappointing behind Diggs and Adam Thielen and it could be a sign that the team could be trying something different to add depth considering the struggles of Laquon Treadwell.
Either way, Minnesota is going to have its fingers crossed over the next 24 hours that Diggs can play in an important divisional matchup on Sunday. Otherwise, more will be forced on Thielen’s shoulders as the Vikings try to pick up a much-needed victory.
