No sacks for Mack

On paper, going up against Bears pass rusher Khalil Mack seems like a death sentence for the Vikings’ offensive line. However, Minnesota and their coaching staff have had two weeks to prepare for how to deal with a difference-maker like Mack.

Even if the Vikings’ blockers are not able to contain the ferocious Chicago pass rusher, there are still ways to make sure that he doesn’t make an impact on the outcome. Minnesota offensive coordinator John DeFilippo just needs to make sure he gets creative during Sunday night’s game to avoid the wrath of Mack.

Calling a number of screens to Dalvin Cook and plays that require the quarterback to roll out of the pocket are just a couple of examples in which DeFilippo can prevent the Bears pass rusher from making Kirk Cousins his own personal tackling dummy.

If the Vikings are able to find success with some of these specific play-calls, then they shouldn’t have to worry about Mack coming up with another game-changing play for the Bears this week.
