Minnesota shuts down Gronk

Patriots All-Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski returned to the field last Sunday for the first time since Week 8 due to multiple injuries. This Sunday, Gronkowski will be going up against a Vikings defense that has performed rather well against opposing tight ends recently.

After giving up a bunch of yards and catches to tight ends like George Kittle, Jimmy Graham, and Zach Ertz earlier in the season, Minnesota’s defenders have been much better during the past few weeks.

Since Week 9, no opposing tight end has finished with more than 34 receiving yards in a game against the Vikings. Minnesota head coach Mike Zimmer has obviously tweaked something over the last few weeks in order to prevent his defense from getting gashed by tight ends like they were earlier in the year.

The Vikings’ defenders will keep up with their recent success against tight ends on Sunday when they keep Gronkowski out of the end zone and hold him to less than 50 receiving yards.
