Vikings turn New England into Sack City

Ever since defensive end Everson Griffen returned to the Vikings’ starting lineup in Week 9, the team’s pass rush has re-emerged as one of the best in the NFL.

In Minnesota’s last three games, their defense has racked up a total of 64 quarterback pressures, including 15 sacks. This kind of performance is something that will have to continue this week if the Vikings want to defeat the Patriots.

During two of New England’s three losses this year, they allowed their quarterback to be pressured on at least 10 of his drop-backs. They will be attempting to contain a Minnesota defense that has generated more than 10 quarterback pressures in 10 of their 11 games this season.

Getting in the face of Patriots signal-caller Tom Brady has long been a formula to defeat New England. Luckily for the Vikings, they have a fully healthy group of pass rushers that are ready to put pressure on Brady on day long.

Led by quarterback-eating monsters Danielle Hunter and Sheldon Richardson, expect Minnesota to end their afternoon against New England with at least 20 pressures and five sacks. This alone should be a big help in the Vikings’ attempt to defeat the Patriots this week.
